Sacred Valley by Motorbike

1 Day

The pictures que colonial village of Pisaq lies 32 km from Cusco, in the Urubamba Valley. Visit the village’s colourful Indian market (lots of steps to reach), a bustling display of trade and commerce held in the main square. After lunch in Urubamba, drive through the enchanting Sacred Valley to the village of Ollantaytambo. The village was built on top of an existing Inca settlement and the original inca town. The Sacred Valley of the Incas was undoubtedly a key area of settlement to the Incas.

Its agreeable climate and fertile plains make a rare and fruitful combination for the high Andes. It was also the route to the jungle and therefore an area with access to the fruits and plants of the tropical lowlands. The Sacred Valley served as a buffer zone, protecting Cusco from incursions of the Antis, the fierce jungle tribes who from time to time raided the highlands.

Today the Sacred Valley remains a lush agricultural region supplying the city of Cusco with much of its produce such as maize, fruit and vegetables.

TOUR SCHEDULE

There will be a familiarization briefing at 9:00 AM, after which we will travel into the Sacred Valley (1-hour NW of Cusco), to start our motorcycle adventure. Along the route we pass by the Huaypo lagoon, the archaeological site of Moray, salt mine of Maras and Urubamba. We will have lunch and continue to Pisac finishing the trip in Cusco at about 6:00 PM.

Machu Picchu by Motorbike

TOUR DESCRIPTION

Adventures and emotions for paths scrabbled up heights. Challenge and the adrenaline overflows when you ride a motorcycle in Peru MACHUPICCHU is a citadel surrounded in mystery, and to this day archaeologists have not uncovered the history and purpose of this city of stone. The site has an area of about one square kilometer, and stands in a region that the Incas considered to be magical, due to the meeting of the Andes Mountains with the mighty Amazon River.

TOUR SCHEDULE

1st Day: Cusco - Amparaes - Inti Watana - Aguas Calientes

Distance: 160 km on dirt road and 80 km on asphalted highway.

Early in the morning around 7am we depart to the Sacred Valley of the Incas along 65 km of an asphalt road arriving into the village of Ollantaytambo. Afterwards we will start the climb up to the pass of Malaga (4120 metres above the sea level) along a zig zagging road, observing one of the most fantastic landscapes of the Peruvian Andes. Then we will descend to an altitude of approximately 800 meters looking at the amazing variation of weather and vegetation in the alto-andean region to the almost-tropical region since the intiwatana valley is located in the amazonic jungle of Peru. Arrival into Aguas Calientes and sleep over at designated hotel.

2nd Day: Machu Picchu (Train Ride In/Out)

The excursion to the citadel of Machu Picchu starts very early. After breakfast you will be transferred to the station to board the bus to the Inca ruins of Machupicchu. You have more than 6 hours for visit Machu Picchu until the return to Aguas Calientes. After the guided tour you will have lunch in Aguas Calientes town. Return to Inti huatana by train and sleep over at designated hotel.

3th Day: Inti Huatana / Cusco

Early in the morning around 7 am we depart with our motorcycles to Cusco. We will arrive in Cusco in the afternoon.

TOUR SCHEDULE

 

1st Day: Arrival in Peru

Arrival in Lima and transfer to the hotel. Meeting with the rest of the tour participants. First briefing to cover the general aspects of the tour.

2nd Day: Machu Picchu (Train Ride In/Out)

( 260 KM., transfer )

We will get to the town of Paracas, our trip is by the Panamerican south road with typical landscapes of the peruvian coast (desert) we will cross valleys in where the farmers cultivate cotton, asparagus and other products of the area , by the afternoon we will visit the national park of Paracas place in it which was discovered the culture of the same name (Paracas) so it is one of the most beautiful landscapes of desert that exists in the world, visiting typical artisanal ports of fishing in this area , also the natural habitat of animals that live in this peninsula ( sea wolves, pelican, gulls etc.), arrive to the hotel in the afternoon. 3th Day: Paracas - Ica - Nazca

( 140 Km dirt road and 120 km on paved road )

Motorcycle from Paracas to Nasca 230 km aprox. In the morning we will go to the pier of the Chaco to aboard the vessel that will take us to Ballestas islands, famous by the production of island guano and the fauna that lives in this area to the point that is considered the peruvian Galapagos, in this island live animals like the sea wolf, sea lion, gulls, the Humboldt penguin.

On the way we could appreciate the famous” Candelabro” that is found in one of the hillsides of the Paracas bay, after this visit that lasts about 2 hours we will continue on our own transportation heading to the city of Ica where we will visit the Archaeological Regional Museum and the famous oasis the Huacachina then we will go to the city of Nazca .Overnight in a hotel. 4th Day: Nazca

In the morning we will have the opportunity to fly over the Nazca lines on an optional excursion and in the afternoon by our motorcycle we will visit the region's archaeological. The ruins of Paradones, the Inca aqueducts that continue to carry water from the Andes to irrigate this barren desert and the pre- inca cemetery of chauchilla. Overnight in hotel (B,D)

5th Day: Nazca Abancay (460 KM.)

By motorcycle we will go to the city of Abancay, on the way we will visit the ruins of Paradones and the aqueducts, the vicuna national reserve of Pampa Galeras, and we will appreciate animals that live in this area like vicuñas, llamas, alpacas etc. Arrival to Abancay in the afternoon. Arrangements for hotel. from Nasca to Abancay.390 km approximately. Max altitude 4800 meters up the level of the sea (B,D)

6th Day: Abancay - Cusco ( 200 KM. )

Travel by motorcycle from Abancay to Cusco 200 km approximately, max. altitude 3800 meters above the level of the sea. Early in the morning we will go to the Imperial city of Cusco, en route we will visit archaeological centers like the ruins of Limatambo (tarahuasi) also the famous thermal baths of Conoc, arrival and arrangement for hotel. 7th Day: Cusco City Tour - Four Ruins ( 30 km )

Morning free, In the afternoon visit the city of Cusco, like the sun's temple known as QORICANCHA and the cathedral, after we will continue by a tourist bus to visit the famous fortress of Sacsayhuaman, the archaeological groups of Q'enco, Pucapucara and Tambomachay.

8th Day: Cusco - Machupicchu - Urubamba

By motorcycle we will visit the famous sacred valley of the incas, we will visit the andean market and the ruins of Pisac and the fortress of Ollantaytambo and the Inca village. Overnight in Urubamba.

9th Day: Sacred Valley - Cusco

In the morning we will board our car that will take us to Ollantaytambo station, place where we will board our train that will take us to the magnificent inca citadel of Machupicchu. We will visit the archaeological complex with an expert guide, return from Machupicchu to Aguas Calientes. train ticket (economy class) from Aguas calientes to Cusco transfer from the station to the hotel.

10th Day: Cusco - Puno

Motorcycle from Cusco to Puno.390 km approximately. max altitude 4326 meters above the level of the sea visiting the church of Andahuaylillas and the ruins of Racchi. overnight in hotel. (B,D)

11th Day: Puno

A.m. We start the day visiting the titicaca lake, uros island and in the afternoon Sillustani ruins. Overnight in hotel. (B,D)

12th Day: Puno - Chivay

By Motorcycle we will go from Puno to Chivay. 340 km approximately. max altitude 4900 meters above the level of the sea Transfer to the town of Chivay, this is one of the most important tours talking about the panoramic view over all our crossroad, if we are lucky, we will appreciate the vicuñas, alpacas, flamingos etc. Arrive in the afternoon, arrangements for hotel. Overnight at hotel in Chivay. (B,D)

13th Day: Chivay - Arequipa

By motorcicle we will go from Chivay to Arequipa.190 km approximately, maximum altitude of 4900 meters above the sea level. Early in the morning we will go to the Cruz of Condor place where if the time is enough we could appreciate the biggest bird of the world, the Condor, the majesty of its flight in the deepest canyon of the world ,”the Colca”, then we will visit the bordering towns of this valleys, in the afternoon we will arrive to Arequipa. Hotel in Arequipa. (B,D)

14th Day: Arequipa - Lima

A.m.We start our day with a visit to the city of Arequipa, the cathedral, the company of Jesus, and the Santa Catalina convent. In the afternoon transfer from the hotel to the airport of Arequipa. Transfer from the airport to the hotel (B,D)

15th Day: Lima - Out

By the morning we will be visit Peru's capital, Lima. Our tour through historic and modern Lima will take us to the Cathedral, San Francisco church and the Arqueologycal Museum, transfer to the airport.

13th Day: Chivay - Arequipa

By motorcicle we will go from Chivay to Arequipa.190 km approximately, maximum altitude of 4900 meters above the sea level. Early in the morning we will go to the Cruz of Condor place where if the time is enough we could appreciate the biggest bird of the world, the Condor, the majesty of its flight in the deepest canyon of the world ,”the Colca”, then we will visit the bordering towns of this valleys, in the afternoon we will arrive to Arequipa.
